A Love Offering Will Be Taken

In the early 1980's a group of young people in western Norway fell in love with the American gospel music of Andre Crouch, Patrick Henderson, Richard Smallwood, Edwin Hawkins and Bill Gaither. In 1991 the group invited Edwin Hawkins to a workshop founded by Petter Losengard. This was the beginning of the Karmony Gospelfest, which is now a large annual convention. Last year over 900 young people from all across Norway attended.

Inspired by the Karmony Gospelfest, Petter Losengard established a community choir in 1995, which began with 20 young people. This choir became known as the "Voice of Joy". This dedicated group of young people, ages 16-30, are from different churches in the area around the town of Haugesund, on the West Coast of Norway. With the blessings of the Lord, the Voice of Joy has been established as one of the top gospel choirs in Norway.
